Monday evening, a member of Ciclodi-tale, Daniela, was hit by a car while cycling came home from work.

As with everything you do in Lodi, including the construction of the bike path routes Lodivecchio - S. Bassett - Mazzini and Piacenza has led to protests. We

The first suggestion is that of respect for others, not to think of being the only ones with common sense, do not always feel the subject of a plot by those who want to ridicule and damage to others. As we have seen, the design of the path of Via S. Bassett was very careful, as the commitment of the designer and the city administration, but also of our association and many residents of the area. No coincidence that there were four nights of public discussion and then present the project.


The second suggestion is to not underestimate the technical expertise of the designers. For example, the narrowing of the road section, and his small misalignment, it was not accidental, but an attempt to decrease the speed of vehicles. It is certainly resolute action. But also propose a one-way circular Via S. Bassi and Via Gandini (by then to get the car almost in Via S. Bassett station ...) is not a choice without weaknesses.

The third is to try to see all points of view. The intervention in Via S. Bassi and Via Mazzini is a very difficult operation, as In the area there are conflicts between different requirements: those who want to walk and ride safely on the road. Who lives and wants to come and go from the comfort of your driveway or road that you enter the main street. Who wants to park your car in front of the house. Who wants a sufficient number of parking spaces in front of their business, per se, for its customers or for loading or unloading goods. Who wants to move quickly in the car along the road (and even these are so many ...). It is easy to see how these requirements are conflicting and not all needs can be met simultaneously. E 'need a compromise. The compromise will not please anyone, but maybe you know how the others think may serve to understand that maybe the right and wrong are distributed differently from what you initially thought.

The fourth tip is to not expect a magic wand from the other if you have not personally. No action is completely decisive, especially in complex situations. We agree that not everything is solved now that the bike path did not lead to absolute security on the road. But we think he has improved the overall situation was worse than the first, now is better. Of course, in the future will focus also on the part of cyclists to understand how the track, not to use it in the wrong direction on both sides. To understand that the dangers have not disappeared.


Finally, please be constructive. There may be some adjustments. It happens so in the works designed and made by humans. They are never perfect, even those where you think, think, discuss and down again. If you try to make concrete proposals maybe you gain a bit 'of humility in criticizing the proposals of others. For example, if the intersection with Via Benedetto Croce is too dangerous, we may propose to move back by one to two meters from the crossing the start of the parking lot. Finally, we are happy to have finally realized the bike path in S. Bassett and seems to be a good project. For the future, we hope that the comparison is clear and open. As an association that promotes the use of bicycles in Lodi and is accustomed to act in a civilized and democratic, listening to the needs of everyone, not just those of cyclists, we are ready to listen to all opinions and to have our say.
